LR ADAMS FIELD RECEIVES $1.1 MILLION GRANT FOR RUNWAY SAFETY

WASHINGTON, D.C. - United States Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor, and Representative Vic Snyder announced today that the Department of Transportation has awarded $1,108,254 to improve runway safety at Adams Field in Little Rock, Arkansas.

The grant will finance a safety upgrade to an existing system designed to arrest, or stop, aircrafts from running off of the runway. The current Engineered Materials Arresting System (EMAS) will be enhanced with a jet blast-resistant coating to improve runway safety at Adams Field.

"We must ensure that our airports are as safe and technologically advanced as possible, because quality travel routes in Arkansas are key to attracting both businesses and jobs to our state," Senator Blanche Lincoln said.

"Safety at our airports, small and large alike, is a top priority for our state," Senator Pryor said. "This grant will make a tremendous difference in enhancing the safety of our pilots and passengers at Adams Field."

"This grant will go a long way in our efforts to consistently improve the safety of our Arkansas airports," Congressman Vic Snyder said.
