SNYDER ANNOUNCES SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER FUNDS FOR CLINTON

WASHINGTON, D.C.-United States Representative Vic Snyder (AR-02) announced today that the United States Department of Justice's Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) has awarded $73,572 under the COPS in Schools Program to the Clinton Police Department.

The funds will be used to hire an additional full-time officer, known as a School Resource Officer, to perform a variety of functions within the Clinton public school system.

"I'm pleased to see Clinton receive funds to hire a School Resource Officer," Congressman Snyder said. "Their presence in schools makes a difference in the lives of students, not just in that they provide enhanced safety, but also as hands-on mentors for our youth."

Grants are awarded to provide for a designated portion of the salary and benefits of each new officer over three years.
