Arkansas Delegation Announces $460,060 in Grants for Rural Fire Protection WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor, along with U.S. Reps. Marion Berry, Mike Ross, Vic Snyder, and John Boozman announced Friday that rural fire departments in Arkansas have been awarded $460,060 in grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
This program provides support to fire departments by providing the tools and resources necessary to ensure both the safety of department personnel and the general public.
The Fire Operations and Firefighter Safety Program includes training, wellness and fitness, firefighting equipment, personal protective equipment, and modifications to fire stations and facilities. The following departments have been awarded grants for Fire Operations and Firefighter Safety:
The Firefighting Vehicles Acquisition Program includes funding for pumpers, brush trucks, tankers, rescue, ambulances, quints, aerials, foam units, and fireboats. The following departments have been awarded grants for a Firefighting Vehicle:
