SNYDER ANNOUNCES FUNDS FOR DIGITAL CONVERSION OF AETN STATIONS WASHINGTON, D.C.-United States Representative Vic Snyder (AR-02)
announced today that the U.S. Department of Commerce has awarded $869,165 to the Arkansas
Educational Television Network (AETN) in Conway under the Public Telecommunications
Facilities Program.
These funds will be used to convert three Arkansas AETN stations (KEMV in Mountain
View, KETS in Little Rock, and KTEJ in Jonesboro) to digital broadcasting by purchasing
transmitters, antennas, microwave interconnection system, master control equipment, and
monitoring and test equipment.
"I'm pleased to see AETN receive these important funds to ensure the continuance of
quality public broadcasting throughout the inevitable advances in communications technology,"
said Congressman Snyder.
The Public Telecommunications Facilities Program supports the expansion and improvement
of public telecommunications services by providing matching grants for public facilities
that deliver educational and cultural programs across the nation.
