SNYDER ANNOUNCES LRSD FUNDS FOR TEACHING AMERICAN HISTORY PROGRAM WASHINGTON, D.C.-United States Representative Vic Snyder (AR-02)
announced today that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded $995,953 to the
Little Rock School District under the Teaching American History Grants Program.
The funds will be used to provide an intensive, ongoing professional development
program focused on in-depth U.S. history content knowledge and teaching practices
for all American history teachers in grades 5, 8, and 11 in the Little Rock School
District.
"I'm pleased to see the Little Rock School District receive funds for this
important project that will help teachers learn new and exciting ways to convey to
students the history of our great nation," said Congressman Snyder.
The Teaching American History Grant Program supports programs to raise student
achievement by improving teachers' knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of
American history.
