PRYOR, LINCOLN, SNYDER ANNOUNCE GRANTS FOR BATTERED WOMEN, BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS, CRIME ID TECHNOLOGY
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor and Representative Vic Snyder announced today several grants from the U.S. Department of Justice for a total of $3,714,510.
Projects included in the Department of Justice funding are:
- $300,000 to the Center for Arkansas Legal Services through the Legal Assistance for Victims Grant program. The program supports projects that provide legal services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or stalking.
- $1,750,400 to the Arkansas Department of Human Services Youth Services division through the FY03 Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grants program. The goal of the JAIBG program is to develop programs to promote greater accountability in the juvenile justice system by supporting, both financially and programmatically, the improvement of infrastructure and operations at state and local levels.
- $894,150 to the Arkansas Alliance of Boys and Girls Clubs from the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Congressional Earmark programs. This award will support the continuation and enhancement of Boys & Girls Clubs programming in the State of AR to a minimum of 66,850 at-risk Arkansas youth.
- $699,960 to the Arkansas Crime Information Center under the FY03 Nat'l Criminal History Improvement program. The NCHIP assists states in improving safety by enhancing the quality, completeness, and accessibility of the nation's criminal history and sex offender record systems.
- $70,000 to the Arkansas Department of Community Correction from the Serious and Violent Offender Reentry program, which was designed to provide funding to state and local government to develop and implement institutional and community corrections-based offender reentry programs. The ultimate goal of the program is to reduce recidivism, increase public safety, and successfully reintegrate serious and violent offenders back into the community.
