Arkansas Delegation Announces $192,196 in Grants for Rural Fire Protection

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor, along with U.S. Reps. Marion Berry, Mike Ross, Vic Snyder, and John Boozman announced Friday that rural fire departments in Arkansas have been awarded $192,196 in grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

This program provides support to fire departments by providing the tools and resources necessary to ensure both the safety of department personnel and the general public.

The Fire Operations and Firefighter Safety Program includes training, wellness and fitness, firefighting equipment, personal protective equipment, and modifications to fire stations and facilities. The following departments have been awarded grants for Fire Operations and Firefighter Safety:

  • Springhill Volunteer Fire Department; Benton, AR - $63,882
  • Buena Vista Volunteer Fire Department; Stephens, AR - $12,673
  • 70 West Fire Protection Association; Hot Springs, AR - $42,388
  • Southside Volunteer Fire Department; Batesville, AR - $73,253

These awards are part of the 18th round of grant announcements.
