800 MILITARY VEHICLES TO BE SENT FROM LR PORT FRIDAY
New Port Rail Line Will Transport Arkansas's 39th Brigade Supplies to Ft. Hood

Little Rock - The Little Rock Port Authority, the Arkansas National Guard, and U.S. Representative Vic Snyder will participate in a news conference this Friday, October 24, at 1:00 pm at the Little Rock Port Authority.

Eight hundred pieces of National Guard rolling stock including humvees, trucks, and supplies will be transported by train to Fort Hood, Texas over a four-day period. This is the first shipment to be sent from the Port's newly completed railroad in the Slackwater Harbor.

Over 200 military personnel are required to carry out the rail operation that will transport supplies and transportation for the Army National Guard's 39th Infantry Brigade. After training in Fort Hood, the 39th Brigade will be deployed to Iraq.

WHO: Major General Don C. Morrow, Adjutant General of the Arkansas National Guard; Gary Barket, Chairman of the LR Port Authority Board of Directors; and Congressman Vic Snyder will address the media.

Over 200 military personnel and 800 military vehicles will be at conference site.

WHERE: The Little Rock Port Authority.

Directions: Going East on Highway 440, take Exit 5 and turn right off of the exit. After crossing the RR Tracks, take the first left onto Lindsey Road. Turn right onto Industrial Harbor Drive. The next intersection is at Dock Road. The press conference is near a large metal storage building at the corner of Industrial Harbor Drive and Dock Road.
