TSA TO STEP UP SECURITY AT SMALL AIRPORTS Little Rock - Congressman Vic Snyder (AR-02) learned today that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will increase security measures at category IV airports, beginning in Arkansas today.
Congressman Snyder discovered several months ago that small category IV airports are not required to take the extensive security precautions that large airports are, and notified the TSA and Under Secretary for Border & Transportation Security Asa Hutchinson. As a result, the TSA plans to federalize category IV airports, which mandates the deployment of agents to screen passengers and their luggage.
Arkansas has four category IV airports. Agents were sent to El Dorado and Hot Springs today, and will be in Harrison and Jonesboro by tomorrow.
