SNYDER ANNOUNCES COPS FUNDS FOR IN-CAR VIDEO CAMERAS

LITTLE ROCK, AR-United States Representative Vic Snyder (AR-02) announced today that the United States Department of Justice's Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) has awarded $119,557 under the In-Car Video Camera Program to the Arkansas State Police to purchase 30 cameras.

"I am pleased to see the state police receive this much-needed assistance," Congressman Snyder said. "Additional in-car video cameras will help to promote officer safety."

Placing video cameras in law enforcement patrol vehicles can be particularly beneficial to law enforcement agencies, officers, and citizens during traffic stops. In-car cameras serve as a deterrent to assaults on officers, as a training device, and as evidence in trials.
