LINCOLN, PRYOR, SNYDER ANNOUNCE $1.36 MILLION FOR LRAFB C130J FACILITY

Washington, D.C. - United States Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor, and Representative Vic Snyder announced today that the Air Force intends to carry out a military construction project at Little Rock Air Force Base to accommodate the new mission C-130J-30 aircraft. Congress authorized the project earlier this year in the Military Construction Appropriations Act for FY04

The $1,360,000 project will construct additions and alterations at hangar 280 for the new C-130J's, which are 15 feet longer than the current C-130's and cannot be enclosed within the existing facility. The C-130J's are expected to arrive at LRAFB next year.

"The new funding will allow the Little Rock Air Force Base to substantially enhance its facilities before the arrival of the new C130J's," Lincoln said. "With this federal investment, the Air Force is demonstrating its continued commitment to the Little Rock Air Force Base and its critical mission, and that's good news for Arkansas."

"The C-130J aircraft is critical to our nation's defense goals and compliments the invaluable service performed by our men and women at the Little Rock Air Force Base," Pryor said. "I'm pleased we were able to secure this funding, and I'll continue to work with my colleagues to ensure that Little Rock Air Force Base has the resources it needs to carry out its missions."

"Funding for this C-130J training facility and hangar improvements indicate the continuing commitment of the Air Force to make the Little Rock Air Force Base the premier C-130 training facility in the US," said Congressman Snyder.
