NASA CHOOSES UALR TO DEVELOP DUST PARTICLE ANALYZER WASHINGTON, D.C. - United States Representative Vic Snyder
(AR-02) announced today that the National Aeronautics and Space Administration
(NASA) has awarded $706,380 to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock to
develop a Dust Particle Analyzer.
"A lot of great research is funded by NASA and I am pleased to see Central
Arkansas once again being a participant," Snyder said.
Out of 48 proposals, 18 were selected for this program. UALR joins a list of
successful candidates like Cornell University, Goddard Space Flight Center,
University of California at Berkeley, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Naval Research
Laboratory, Johns Hopkins University and Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Under NASA's Research Opportunities in Space Science-2002 program, NASA solicited
proposals to improve spacecraft-based technology for use in scientific investigations
on future planetary missions.
The goal of this program is to develop scientific instruments that could be
used for future flight opportunities without extensive additional development.
Funding for these grants are generally for 1-3 years, with research set to begin
as soon as possible. -30- |
