Dear Friend,
Last month, I conducted a Congressional Issues Survey to obtain input from our community regarding upcoming issues in Congress. Thousands of people responded and I’d like to thank each of you who took the time to express your opinions. All of the survey results are available on my website, but here are a few key points:
• 75% of respondents want a strategy to end the war in Iraq and disagree with the President that the war should continue in perpetuity.
• Only a small percentage of eligible respondents have signed up for the Medicare prescription drug benefit. Each day convinces me more of theurgency of fixing this program.
• Finally, it confirms that our community is very divided on immigration policy. The same holds true in national surveys. Clearly, we in Congress have our work cut out to develop a sensible, humane immigration policy for our nation.
I hope you’ll continue to share your perspectives in the upcoming year. Please join me at one of my town meetings on February 11, 2006 where we can further discuss these and many other important issues facing our country.
Sincerely,

Pete Stark
Member of Congress
