Washington, D.C.September 2005
Dear Friend: It has been nearly four years since 9/11. Since then, the Administration has created a Department of Homeland Security, the PATRIOT Act, a color-coded system for alerting Americans to the nation's terror threat level and nearly $300 billion for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. While some maintain the Administration's priorities are necessary for our safety, civil rights are being limited and religious intolerance spread. The Administration's policies are trading a claim of security for the promise of limiting our constitutional rights. I am proud to represent one of the most diverse congressional districts in the country. That is why I'm focusing my town meetings on Saturday, September 10th on the issues of tolerance, civil liberties and Homeland Security. Please join me for this opportunity to discuss these very important issues. Sincerely, |
