WASHINGTON, SEPT. 30, 2003 - 'I am pleased to announce a replacement VA clinic in Leesburg to better serve the veterans in the region," stated Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Ocala). "Since opening in 2001, the Leesburg clinic has treated veterans from Lake and Sumter Counties. These community-based clinics are a cost-effective means of providing care while reducing the demand on veterans to travel for their treatment, and I am proud of my efforts to open the Leesburg clinic."
As Chairman of the Veterans Affairs' Health Subcommittee, Stearns was instrumental in bringing the community-based clinic to Leesburg. The new clinic is expected to cover 8,258 square feet with an expected occupancy date of February 2004. The new address will be 711 W. Main Street, Leesburg, FL 34748. The clinic will be staffed with five health care providers and will have an increased number of doctors. The local Veterans Services Officer, Tom Osebold, will also be housed in the clinic. "I look forward to continuing to work with the Department of Veterans' Affairs and my colleague on the VA Committee Congresswoman Ginny Brown-Waite in improving the care available to our nation's veterans and I am grateful for their continued support of the Leesburg clinic," added Stearns.
