WASHINGTON, DEC. 4, 2007 - Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Sixth) sent out a survey earlier this year to the residents of the Sixth Congressional District. Stearns asked for input on a number of issues from Iraq to health insurance, and included a section for people to submit their own ideas.
"I believe in the power of ideas, the power of people, and the power of smart government to put the ideas of the people to work," said Stearns. "More than 8,000 survey were answered and returned to my office. Although many were duplicative, vague, or general, we identified specific ideas that address some our nation's major concerns. Although I do not agree with every idea, I find them thought provoking. These are your ideas and I want to share them with you. I collected more than a hundred of these ideas and had them printed in the 'Your Good Ideas' booklet."
The booklet includes ideas regarding Iraq, Health Care, Social Security, Taxes, Immigration, Veterans, Energy, Education, Welfare, Exporting Jobs Overseas, Criminal Justice, Congress, and Miscellaneous. Added Stearns, "I intend to develop legislation or support current legislation on some of these ideas."
The "Your Good Ideas" booklet is available by contacting Stearns' Ocala office. The office is located at 115 SE 25th Avenue in Ocala or you can call 352-351-8777 or toll free from within the Sixth District at 1-800-888-7743.
