WASHINGTON, APRIL 24, 2009 –“This is becoming a regular part of my job,” said Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Sixth) while again commending a Florida Gators team for winning the national collegiate championship. Yesterday, Stearns welcomed the men’s national championship football team to Washington, D.C., first at a ceremony at the Library of Congress and then at the White House. Stearns presented coach Urban Meyer with an American flag that flew over the U.S. Capitol on the day the Gators won the national title.

Added Stearns, “I was so confident of the Gators’ victory that I had this flag flown that day. I am very proud to recognize the University of Florida as a world-class institution and its excellence in academics, research, and athletics.”
