Statement by Rep. Susan Davis on President Obama's Address

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Susan Davis released the following statement on the address delivery by President Barack Obama to a joint session of Congress.

“In his speech before Congress, President Obama diagnosed the economic and financial crisis facing the country.  He laid out an honest description of the challenges ahead.  He presented a plan with tough choices, but hopes for a better future.

“We need to grow the economy for the long-term and make the investments that will enable America to lead for generations to come.  We must make investments so that our health care system is less costly for families and businesses, our education system can to be reformed so that all of our students can compete in the 21st century, and for a more sustainable and efficient energy policy. 

“The President called on Congress and the American people to join him in confronting these challenges today so that we can look to a brighter tomorrow.”
