Rep. Susan Davis Statement on Earthquake in Japan and Ensuing Tsunami
Washington – Congresswoman Susan Davis (D-San Diego) released the following statement today regarding the earthquake in Japan and tsunami affecting the Pacific region:
“My deepest condolences go to the families and friends of the victims of this horrific disaster, and my thoughts and prayers go out to those who are still missing as Japanese teams enter this critical period of search and rescue.”
“Having lived in Japan many years ago, it holds a special place in my heart. Japan and the United States have long shared a deep alliance and partnership, and we remain committed to giving Japan the resources it needs to rebuild in the wake of this disaster. San Diego-based aircraft carrier USS Reagan is on its way to provide any needed assistance. I’ll continue to carefully monitor these events and am in touch with officials from FEMA and other agencies to ensure that the needs of impacted coastal citizens and communities are met.”
