Congresswoman Susan Davis Statement on Departure of Rep. Gabby Giffords
WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Susan Davis (D-San Diego) released the following statement after Congresswoman Gabby Giffords announced that she will resign from Congress to focus on her recovery:
"Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords brought a vitality and insight to the Congress with her dedication to public service and her district. She is an inspiring leader who used her many talents in the betterment of others.
"I have missed Gabby as a congressional colleague and hoped for her return this year, but honor her decision in the best interest of her constituents. I know that however she takes on the world following a full recovery, she will make an outstanding contribution.
"I look forward to seeing her at the State of the Union.
"I join with Americans throughout the country in celebrating her remarkable tenacity and wish Gabby and Mark love and best wishes."
