Rep. Susan Davis Statement on the Proposed House Budget
Washington – Congresswoman Susan Davis (D-San Diego) released the following statement on the House budget introduced today.
“The House budget proposed by the Majority would end the Medicare guarantee, slash federal college loans, and cut taxes on the wealthy while protecting tax breaks for Wall Street hedge fund managers. It deeply cuts our nation’s investments in innovation, education, and infrastructure. This is a budget that benefits Wall Street while asking Main Street to foot the bill.
“Our budget is supposed to reflect the priorities of the nation. Those priorities should be investing in our crumbling infrastructure, rebuilding our schools and educating our children so they can compete in the 21st Century, and protecting our Medicare commitment to America’s seniors.
“I am disappointed that the majority chose to put forward a deeply partisan bill that has no chance of moving forward. Both parties should be working together on a budget that strengthens the middle class and not push the American Dream farther out of reach.”
