August 22, 2008 TANNER
PROUD OF COMMUNITY'S PLEDGED Congressman Attends Community Covenant Signing Ceremony Congressman John Tanner thanked the Middle and West Tennessee community for its support of the military families stationed at Fort Campbell Army Base. Tanner attended a ceremony at Fort Campbell Friday for the signing of an Army Community Covenant that expresses regional support for U.S. troops and the Fort Campbell community. “We will continue to show our support for our men and women in uniform and their families while they are in harm’s way and when they have returned home,” Congressman Tanner said. “Their service to the Armed Forces is important to our country, and we cannot thank them enough for their sacrifices.” The U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed a resolution in July to honor the 101st Airborne Division. “They and their families will be in our thoughts and prayers as they continue to serve with distinction,” Tanner said in Congressional Record remarks about the resolution, H.Res. 1080, which was co-sponsored by the entire Tennessee House delegation. Tanner represents Tennessee’s 8th Congressional district in Middle and West Tennessee. A veteran of the U.S. Navy and the Tennessee Army National Guard, Tanner serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and as chairman of the U.S. delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, the legislative arm of the NATO alliance. # # # Contact: Randy Ford, 202.225.4714
