Rep. Ellen Tauscher Earns Top Ranking from Children’s Defense Fund
“Named one of the best Representatives for children for the third consecutive year
Washington, DC – The Children's Defense Fund Action Council (CDFAC) has released its 2007 Nonpartisan Congressional Scorecard. For the third year in a row Rep. Ellen Tauscher has been named one of the “Best Representatives for Children” in Congress scoring a 100% ranking.
“As a mother, I understand that our children’s future depends on a society that supports and protects them. As a legislator, I believe that the best way to defend our children is to consistently fight for laws that directly affect their health, safety and welfare,” said Rep. Ellen Tauscher. “I am proud that an organization as respected as the Children’s Defense Fund has recognized my work, but it should go without saying that there is still more work to do. More than nine million children lack health coverage and nearly thirteen million live in poverty. I will continue to work with groups like CDF until all children are able to grow up in a healthy and safe environment.”
The Children’s Defense Fund Action Council educates the nation about the needs of children and encourages preventative investment before they get sick or into trouble, drop out of school, or suffer family breakdown. The CDF Action Council began in 1969 and is a private, non-profit organization that has never taken government funds.
