Upton Announces Lakeshore High’s Eric Clark Appointed to Air Force Academy
Rep. personally relayed the news to St. Joseph’s Clark – Upton sponsored Clark’s application to the Air Force Academy
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Fred Upton today announced that Eric Clark of St. Joseph has been appointed to attend the United States Air Force Academy. Upton, who recommended Clark for selection to the prestigious service academy, personally relayed the news to Eric. Eric Clark is a graduate of Lakeshore High School.
“I am pleased to announce Eric Clark’s appointment to attend the esteemed Air Force Academy,” said Upton. “Eric has successfully completed a rigorous selection process and our entire community should be proud of his achievements, both in and out of the classroom – I am glad to have had the opportunity to sponsor his application. This exemplary young man represents the very best that Michigan has to offer – he no doubt has a very bright future ahead of him, and I wish him every success.”
Each year, Upton nominates students from the Sixth District who have excelled at their respective high schools, both in and out of the classroom, and have gone through a rigorous selection process. The selection process included an interview with Upton’s Academy Advisory Board that is comprised of community leaders. Upon approval by the board, Eric’s name was then passed on to Upton, who then officially nominated the Lakeshore High School graduate to the Air Force Academy. Academy nominations are limited in number and must come from a United States Representative or Senator. The individual academies make the final decisions on military appointments.
