Millions of America's soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines, both overseas and at home, are right now fulfilling their oaths to protect and defend our nation. Congress has taken a giant step forward in fulfilling our obligations to these brave men and women and those who have served before them. |

As young Americans consider their future, the manner in which we treat our veterans is one of the determining factors on whether they decide to join the world's best military and join the fight in protecting our homeland. It is with a continued commitment that we forge ahead in taking care of our own. |
I continue to support veterans' programs and believe that the Congress should persist in promoting policies that assist those who contributed so much to this nation. I look forward to supporting veterans programs and look for real world solutions to everyday problems that our veterans face. |

Veterans History Project
This year, Fred joined with thousands of people around the country in an effort to preserve a piece of our history by contributing to the Library of Congress Veterans History Project. To participate was easy, Fred simply interviewed a veteran - in this case his dad, who fought at the Battle of the Bulge in WWII - and sent it to the Library of Congress. More information on the project, and how to participate can be found by clicking the link below or calling (202) 707-4916.

The Veterans History Project collects and preserves audio- and video-taped oral histories, along with documentary materials such as letters, diaries, maps, photographs, and home movies, of America's war veterans and those who served in support of them. The project covers World War I, World War II, and the Korean, Vietnam, and Persian Gulf wars. It includes all participants in those wars--men and women, civilian and military. It documents the contributions of civilian volunteers, support staff, and war industry workers as well as the experiences of military personnel from all ranks and all branches of service--the Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, and Navy, as well as the U.S. Coast Guard and Merchant Marine.
