What's so interesting about Indiana you say? Well, let me tell you.
Did you know that Indiana's state capitol Indianapolis is the largest city in Indiana. There are 792,000 people in Indianapolis maybe even more. Our state nickname is the Hoosier State. Another nickname is The Crossroads of America.
You're probably thinking what in the world is a Hoosier? For more than 150 years Hoosier has been the nickname of the state of Indiana and it's people. Anyway, no one really knows where it came from. Oh and by the way, Indiana came from the word Indian. With the addition of an "a" at the end it means Indian land.
In 1880 Wabash, southwest of Fort Wayne, was the first American city to get streetlights.
If you're wondering what the crossroads of America. What that means is that tons of roads that go from end to end of America.
