BCS Schedules Groundbreaking
October 13
–
Bradley/Cleveland Services will be building two new homes to be added to almost 40 homes the assistance organization already has in Cleveland and Bradley County. The board of directors of BCS and staff leadership met to thank Congressman Wamp for all of his efforts to help the medically fragile and serve the intellectually disabled community.

Rapid progress of Volkswagen plant
July 19

ARC grants to benefit Incubator, upgrade GIS
May 3 –
Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen is recommending
several Appalachian Regional Commissioner
grants, two of which will greatly impact the
Cleveland-Bradley County community. Incubator
Director Don M. Geren compiled the grant
application, with support from Tennessee Sen.
DeWayne Bunch, and state representatives Brooks
and Eric Watson. Senators Bob Corker and Lamar
Alexander and Congressman Zach Wamp also aided
in securing the funds.

Joint Council begins with festivities
April 17 –
Rep. Wamp planted a Tulip Poplar, the official
tree of the state of Tennessee. "Many friends
from Oklahoma, north Georgia, northern Alabama
and western North Carolina came together to
celebrate that special place and begin this
three day convocation of these great peoples,"
said Wamp.

Cherokee Reunion Begins at Blythe Ferry
April 16 –
Congressman Zach Wamp, Chief Michell Hicks,
Cherokee Nation Chief Chad Smith and officials
and friends of the Blythe Ferry Cherokee Removal
Park met in Meigs County to raise the flags of
the United States, the Eastern Band and the
Cherokee Nation. Chief Smith said Wamp joined
other Tennesseans, including Davy Crockett, in
being a "great statesmen for the Cherokees."

Joint Council Events Begin This Evening
April 15 –
The Cherokee Nation and Eastern Band of the
Cherokee Indians will begin a historic journey
to where they held their last council in 1984,
but prior to that, where one of the nation's
greatest tragedies began to unfold -- the famed
"Trail of Tears." Officials will gather at
Blythe Ferry in Meigs County to hold a flag
raising ceremony and reception honoring
Congressman Zach Wamp for his role in helping
preserve Cherokee heritage.

$1 billion plant to bring 500-600 jobs
February 26
– Today Wacker Chemie announced it will locate
in northern Bradley County, bringing with it 500
highly skilled jobs and a capital investment of
$1 billion. Mayor Tom Rowland stated, "Our local
state legislative delegation, as well as our two
U.S. Senators and Congressman Wamp, have
contributed much to today's success. This is a
day of celebration for everyone in Bradley
County."
