Since I was elected to Congress, it has been my privilege to host several events. Some of them have been once-in-a-lifetime experiences and others went so well we have made them annual occurrences. Below are some of the highlights from the past few years.

48th Annual Congressional Baseball Game

Lawmakers from both sides of the isle came together for the Annual Roll Call Congressional Baseball game at Nationals Park to raise $140,000 for the Washington Literacy Council and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington. After a valiant effort from both teams, Democrats defeated Republicans for only the 15th time in the game’s 48-year history, winning 15-10.

TVC Summit Returns to Oak Ridge

Hundreds of top leaders throughout the Tennessee Valley Corridor reconvened at the 21st National Leadership Regional Cooperation Summit in Oak Ridge, where it first began 15 years ago. Congressman Wamp’s commitment to Oak Ridge and leadership in economic development was recognized at a surprise dedication and renaming of the Zach Wamp Auditorium in the New Hope Center at Y-12.

Inauguration of the 44th President

Hundreds of joyous Tennesseans endured long lines in the cold to get in to Congressional office buildings to pick up their Inauguration tickets. Electricity was in the air all over Washington as people from around the country traveled to be a part of this historic Inauguration of our 44th President. My office overflowed with people at an open house my wife and I hosted. It was such a pleasure to welcome so many people from home to our nation’s capital and share the moment with them on the eve of history.
